Hoje acordei com essa triste notícia.
No vídeo, "Jungleland", com o famoso solo (minutos 4 a 6 e 30'').
Eu ficava arrepiado com esse solo. Escutava as músicas de Born to Run e The River num walkman, em fita cassete pirata, antes de dormir, deitado na cama de um quarto de uma família em Dublin, quando tinha quinze, dezesseis anos. (Às vezes chorando. Mas de felicidade, por me sentir "independente" e "no mundo".)

What a wonderful combo the E Street Band was in those days. Clarence made "an honest stand" and defined the sound of the band. I have the cover picture of Born to Run, with a cool CC, burned in my brain. Rest among the stars, Clarence.

Sim, uma grande perda. Seus solos no cd "Born to run" são sensacionais.
Também ADORO "The River", talvez a minha predileta do Springsteen.
Eu também. :) Confesso que The River (o CD inteiro, mais do que a música) é o meu preferido, mesmo que os críticos achem sempre Born to Run a obra-prima. E confesso que com o "lado B" de The River, com as músicas mais "dor de cotovelo" (Point Blank, Fade Away, Stolen Car, Drive All Night-minha preferida entre as preferidas, Wreck On the Highway,...) eu chorava mesmo, de tristeza ou melancolia, terminado o verão... :)
The River marcou um antes e um depois para Springsteen e também para Clarence Clemons. Li estes dias que com The River acabaram essas músicas de 7, 9, 11 minutos. A partir de Tunnel of Love, tudo foi adaptado ao tempo do rádio, 4, máximo 5 minutos, e o saxo de Clemons começou a ter menos presença...
