In this book I found some truths about the lives of ordinary people living in poor and troubled countries (north-eastern India) and of immigrants taking low paid jobs in cities like New York. I put it down once, but I'm glad I picked it up again and read until the end.
In the middle I read L'edifici Iaqubian, by Alaa Al Aswani, about a group of people living in the same building in Cairo (also poor people suffering). The Catalan language used by the translator is richer and more correct than that of most Catalan writers. (Now I think this is something my friend Josep said; I just agreed.)
